blackjack rules

When you play Blackjack the most important issue is to know how many points you have and how many points the dealer has and according to these details you make a decision. There are different strategies which can help you to beat the dealer.

The Ace at Blackjack is worth 11 or 1 point. All face cards are worth 10 points and the number cards have the value of the number. You don't have to take in consideration the different suite of the cards, because they don't count at blackjack.

A Blackjack (also called a Natural Blackjack) is a combination between two cards with the value 10 and an Ace, which is a total of 21 points. In the most casinos pay-outs for a blackjack are 3:2, so with a bet of €100 you will win €150. A natural blackjack is only possible with the first two cards which are dealt. When you have blackjack with 3 or more cards this will be considered as 21 points and you will win your bet if the dealer has 20 or lower or he is busted.

There are not really offical blackjack rules. Depending on the casino the rules are different but the basic is the same. The only thing that is everywhere the same is the start of the player with two cards. After that it can be different with the cards of the dealer. With one casino the dealer show both cards and in other casinos the dealer show only one card.

After receiving your two cards and when it's your turn you have to make a decision. You can choose for:
- Fold: you are happy with the results of your cards and fold your cards, so the dealer has to play to beat you
- Take a card: You will receive new cards until you are happy with the results or until you are busted
- Double down: If you double down, your bet will be doubled and you will get one more card
- Split: when you have two the same cards you can split these to double your pay-out when you win the hand

The dealer always has to stop at 17 or higher and he has to take cards until he reaches 17 points. As a player you can continue until you think that you have a good result to beat the dealer. Always look at the card of the dealer because this is an important issue to decide if you take a card or fold at 12, 13, 14, 15 or 16 points.

Insurance

When the dealer gets an Ace he will ask you if you want to buy an insurance. The most professional blackjack players advice you not to take insurance, because the casino edge is higher with insurance. If you decide to choose for insurance and the dealer gets a natural blackjack you will receive your bet back. But if the dealer doesn't has a natural blackjack and you win the hand than you will only get paid halve your bet.

Even Money

If you have a blackjack and the dealer has an Ace you can choose for even money. If the dealer gets a natural blackjack you will receive halve your bet. If the dealer doens't have a natural blackjack you will win back your bet because you paid the halve of your bet as an insurance.

The best way to learn to play blackjack is to play for fun in an online casino. In this way you can get experience and practice without loosing real money. If you feel confident and you win a lot it's time to win some real money.
